The ARC Training Centre for Climate-Resilient Water has PhD scholarship opportunities available across a range of research themes. Our PhD opportunities are embedded in industry with a 12-month industry placement.
Expressions of interest are invited for domestic candidates before 8 July 2026. Opportunities for international candidates will open later in the year – check back soon.

Renumeration
University Scholarship
Apply for a PhD scholarship with the university associated with your chosen PhD topic and/or chosen supervisor. If your application is successful, you will receive a university stipend PLUS a top-up scholarship from our Centre to further support your research and industry placement.
Stipend: University paid annual stipend for 3 years with the possibility of a 6 month extension (check your chosen University for current stipend amounts: UQ, GU, UTS)
Top-up stipend: $15,000 per year for 3 years
Full Centre Scholarship
If you are not awarded a university scholarship, you will be considered for a full ARC Training Centre for Climate-Resilient Water PhD scholarship.
Stipend: $38,000 per year for 3 years (with the possibility of a 6 month extension)
Top-up stipend: $5,000 per year for 3 years
We welcome expressions of interest (EOI) from candidates working in areas relevant to climate-resilience and related social and physical sciences. Candidates with a background or experience in the following fields are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Environmental engineering
- Hydrology and water resources
- Environmental science, including environmental social science
- Urban planning
- Economics
- Public policy and governance
- Data science
- Sustainability transitions
- Decision making
- Community engagement and participation
