Collaborative governance

How do we transform our social and regulatory systems to enable adaptive climate-resilient water options to become mainstream?

This theme aims to transform and transition policy and regulatory systems, industry-processes and stakeholder engagement. It will advance the global move away from command-and-control consultation approaches – and low collaboration – to a new paradigm suited to the complex social-ecological-economic systems and multiple goals of water management. This theme builds on the clear need for adaptive decision-making in the face of uncertainty, as well as the imperative for increased stakeholder and community participation to define problems and formulate policy.
